Easter 2011

Here are our baskets Easter Morning! We even have a little one for Megan!

Checking out their loot!

The kids got lucky this year with two Easter outfits. The cute skirts from grandma, an the usual outfit from mom and dad!

Looking good for church!

I forgot to put these in order, but here is the egg hunt at our house.

Kids with their bed head and their bags of eggs!

Megan came to visit!

After arches Megan came to stay with us. She sent Kenny home to work and came with us to play! We had fun and played lots of games. We even broke out the always funny twister!!

Megan has been coming to spend time with me and Shane ever since we got married and we always love having her here! We have had a lot of good times because of her visits.

We really miss her (and Kenny) since they moved to Denver!

We love Arches!

I love to go to Arches with my family. It is a tradition to go around Easter and it dates back to my childhood. It is where I learned to love my cousins. It is where I gained a relationship with my aunts and uncles and grandparents. It is where we would get the first rays of sunshine after a long Idaho or Utah winter. It was very renewing for the soul.

I want my kids to have the same experience. They need to know my amazing brothers and sisters. They need to have fun with grandparents who adore them. They need to appreciate nature. They need a break from their everyday life and the electronic world we live in.

They need to see beautiful things like Delicate arch in real life. Not just on a liscence plate!

We had a beautiful day for our hike to delicate. It had been a long time since we did this hike.
Having little kids we were doing shorter hikes, and different hikes the last few trips.

I hadn't done it since I had Jace. Or since my thyroid problems and gaining a lot of weight. I almost died! Literally. At the top I couldn't catch my breath and I was so embarrassed. It was a real wake up call for me to get in better shape. I have always loved this hike and this time was rough. Never again. I have got to get myself in gear. I don't want to miss out on these beautiful experiences.

We sat at the top eating orange slices, trail mix, fruit leathers, and drinking in lots of water and sunshine. What a beautiful day.

I had to throw this picture in because Jace did the majority of this hike barefoot! I got a lot of strange looks from people because of it, but oh well. The rocks weren't hot that day and "something was poking his pinky toe."  He kept sitting down and he was wanting to go back. I knew he would love it at the top, so I thought it would be good to get him there however I could. He did great and got a piggy back at the very end from Curtis and  thought that was the best part of the hike!

Abbie was an awesome helper with Makia (maybe too helpful) holding her a lot and following her around. It was cute to see her trying so hard to help.

These cousins loved every minute of each other. They loved the freedom to run around. They loved looking for lizards and digging in the sand. They loved climbing on the rocks and wearing holes in the rear end of their jeans. (Jace= 4pairs, Abbie = 3) Jace loved going on hikes with the big kids. He was loving Uncle Nate for taking him to the top of some fins. Nate has a fan for life because of it.

Here is the whole Jaussi clan (except for my hard working hubby Shane) just before we left. My kids have definitely caught the Arches bug. Jace kept saying he wanted to move to Moab. When it was time to leave he ran to a picnic table and hugged the bench. He didn't want to leave and was holding on for dear life! We had so much fun!

Dead Horse Point

We had a really chilly day when we went to Arches, so we took a drive to Dead Horse Point.

Such a beautiful place!

I have always loved it. We enjoyed the view and spent a lot of time in the visitors center out of the wind.

These kids are so cute and they had so much fun together running and playing and getting to know their cousins better!

The Jaussi Grandkids!

My awesome mom had this great idea. It was just a little harder to implement than we thought.

She took a ton of time to make cute skirts for all the granddaughters, and find shirts to match, and to find shirts for the boys.

Then Colette did everyone's hair.

Then we went out into the beauty of Arches.

In the crazy wind.

We tried to get all the kids to look at us.

So hard with kids this age.

Like herding cats.

After a million tries.

We at least got them all to look forward!

Then they didn't again, and we called it good.

We thought maybe just the girls? Baby Makia was done.

And so were we.
Good idea mom! We sure tried! Thanks for all your effort and expression of love!!

Jace's Birthday and The Ever Important Alphabet Crown!

Jace's Birthday was on April 3rd. I can't believe my baby is 5! Getting ready for kindergarten. Time has gone by so fast!!

Here he is with his cake. It had a battle bug on it so he was thrilled.

He took off the bug before I could get this picture. He got some other battle bugs, clothes, bakkugans, and a racing set, and lots of fun things from grandparents and aunts and uncles. We also had a pizza party that night.

Here is Jace with the greatest thing you can get from Shining Star Preschool. The Alphabet Crown! He was so proud of himself that day. To get the alphabet crown you have to be able to know your uppercase and lowercase letters and the sounds they make.  It takes a lot of of effort and the kids get really excited to get it! When I picked Jace up he said his class was so proud of him and "gave me a round of applause for all my hard work."  It doesn't get better than that!

March Moments

I have really really been slacking on my blog. I will now try to make up for that with some quick updates. Then hopefully I will be more consistent.

Here was our attempt at some St. Patrick's day fun. Green waffles and milk for dinner. And you can forget a bag of gold coins!

We tried for a while to have Jace grow out his hair. I thought it was cute sometimes, but mostly I think he looked neglected. He liked looking like Justin Beiber for a while, but he didn't like having to get it done. I had finally had enough, so we chopped it off for the spring and summer.

Here is is with his fake smile in the after shot. I like it better short I think, but I do think he looks younger.

This crazy smile of Jace's isn't his best look, but he is sticking with it for now. You can see it is well documented!
