While the kids are away, the parents will play!!

Natalie is at girls camp, and my grandkid loving mom took my other three kids for a week. (to give me a break, and so they would feel like they had some fun while Nat was gone for the third week this summer. So nice!)

So, what is a girl to do with no kids and a husband with a day off? Live it up I tell ya! Live it up!

We started off the day making cookies to take to girls camp. This was Shane's job, because he makes the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Really. I don't ever attempt it anymore, because they are never close to as good!

Then we had a nap at 11:30 in the morning. Because we could. Lovely.

Following our much needed rest we headed to the Temple. We had some family names, including  Shane's grandpa, to work on so that was great. We headed to the Jordan River temple because ours was closed. Then we got there and it was insanely crowded for a Wednesday afternoon. We found out the Salt Lake temple is closed too. It was nice to get there anyway and get progress done on Shane's family's temple work.

Then we drove up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Snowbird. We went down the Alpine Slide a couple times and enjoyed the beautiful day. It was a little funny to be there without the kids, but it was fun for sure. We had our 17th anniversary earlier this month, so it was nice to get away and be together for the day. It is always good to realize you still love each other and you are glad you got married all those years ago!

Then we went to do a little shopping. We didn't really find anything except some baby clothes for our little nephew that is on the way. Then we headed over to Cheesecake Factory.  It is always yummy there. And miraculously there was no wait! They give you so much food though, I think we are going to have to find something to share, because you always want cheesecake at the end! We took ours to go. My favorite is White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. Shane goes for Key Lime. We can't ever share that. I couldn't handle Key Lime. We fit a lot of fun into one day. A highlight of the day was that we used gift cards for the whole dang thing. Now that is awesome. Free Fun! Can't be beat.

We ended the day eating our cheesecake at home while we watched So you think you can dance. I am seriously very grateful that Shane is still my best friend. There isn't anywhere else we would rather be than doing things with each other. It is a blessing. Doesn't it sound like the perfect day? It really was for me!
